One of the most important components of an industrial vacuum cleaner is certainly the filter. This element is essential for the proper functioning of a vacuum cleaner, as it determines its efficiency and reliability in supporting production. It follows that a vacuum cleaner with an inadequate or inefficient filter also affects the quality of the work carried out. To overcome all this, RIBO has designed some filter cleaning and maintenance systems that can keep the filter and vacuum cleaner performance constant over time, thus also increasing the technical life of the vacuum cleaner itself.
Choosing the model (but also the filter!)
It may seem obvious, but for each model of vacuum cleaner there are numerous types of filters depending on the application. In fact, filter and filter cleaning systems must be adapted to the customer’s suction needs: for this reason, the RIBO experts carefully analyze the customer’s needs, offering an exclusive customization service.
Therefore, depending on the use, RIBO offers a great variety of filters, from the most standard filters such as bag filters, to those with more filtering surfaces such as star filters, up to cartridge filters, particularly suitable for very fine powders, and paper prefilters, positioned upstream to further protect the main filter. The last stage of filtration is represented by the absolute filter in ULPA class (Ultra Low Penetration Air): this particular filter can be added to the filters previously mentioned to guarantee even more efficient filtration, managing to retain up to 99.99 % of tiny particles. Absolute filters are generally used in specific contexts to retain particles that can be potentially harmful to human health or the environment.
It is also possible to add filter placed on the outlet air channel to meet specific needs: for example, to neutralize odors, an activated charcoal filter can be applied to the blower drain.
How to clean a filter
Each type of filter has its own cleaning system depending on the application, with the exception of absolute filters and paper prefilters, which cannot be cleaned. However, with greater maintenance of the paper prefilters, it is possible to extend the life of the main filter and any secondary filters of the vacuum cleaner.
- Bag filters and star filters are particularly suitable for retaining chips and, more generally, coarse residues. The most suitable cleaning system for this type of filters is the one with filter shaker, which can be manual or pneumatic. Through this operation, the residues trapped in the filter fall into the container for collecting the vacuumed material, clearing the filter.
- As for the cartridge filters, the cleaning system adopted by RIBO is represented by sequential blasts of compressed air that clean the filter from fine dust in backwash. This can be done by order of the operator, who activates a selector and then starts the cleaning of the filter, or in a completely automatic way, thanks to a timer integrated in the vacuum cleaner. The automatic filter cleaning is particularly suitable for all those applications where work is carried on in continuous mode, in order to keep the performance of the vacuum cleaner constant for the duration of the work shift.
Each of the types of filters described above can be treated with particular materials: for example, the treatment with Teflon guarantees the anti-adhesion of the vacuumed particles, specifically when vacuuming sticky materials or materials subject to humidity. This Teflon patina therefore protects the filter from possible hitches and considerably extends its technical life.
Other treatments that can be carried out on the filters are fireproof ones, a must when you deal with materials above a certain temperature: the flame retardant filter therefore guarantees absolute suction safety, despite the high temperatures.
RIBO carefully studies the filtration needs of each customer, in order to fully customize the industrial vacuum cleaner and thus make it perfect for any application.
