In order to sell our industrial vacuum cleaners worldwide, we have to make sure they meet the requirements set out in the regulations of each country we sell to. For this reason, our products must comply to some specific certifications.
RIBO designs industrial vacuum cleaners that comply with the regulations in force in the destination countries regarding manufacturing quality, electromagnetic compatibility and safety. Let’s look at some of the most important certifications and specific standards that our industrial vacuum cleaners must meet in order for them to comply with the directives.
EUROPE (all member States)
CE Certification
All our industrial vacuum cleaners possess CE certification, which allows the free trade of products within the European market. The reference regulations governing these exchanges within the European Community are the Directive 2006/42/CE concerning machinery and Directive 2014/30/EU concerning the harmonization of the laws of the Member States relating to electromagnetic compatibility.
Atex Certification
From the French ATmosphères EXplosives, this is the conventional name given to the European Union’s Directive 2014/34/EU for the regulation of equipment intended for use in hazardous areas. This directive is aimed at manufacturers of equipment intended for use in areas with potentially explosive atmospheres, where it is necessary to use machinery specifically manufactured according to precise safety standards.
At the customer’s specific request, our products can be EX II certified with a protection level 2 (high) or 1 (very high) depending on the type of atmosphere in which gases (G) and dust (D) are present.
UNITED KINGDOM (England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland)
UKCA Certification
Coming into effect in the United Kingdom on January 1, 2021 as a result of Brexit, it replaces CE marking, becoming mandatory to trade vacuum cleaners in these countries. There are two standards of reference: the Statutory Instruments 2008 No.1597 Health And Safety concerning safety regulations on the supply of machinery and the Statutory Instruments 2016 No.1091 Electromagnetic Compatibility concerning electromagnetic compatibility regulations.
NORTH AMERICA (United States and Canada)
UL-CSA Compliance
UL (for the US) and CSA (for Canada) standards are developed by the independent, nonprofit organizations Underwriters Laboratories Inc (UL) and Canadian Standards Association (CSA). These ensure product compliance with electrical safety and EMC requirements for vacuum cleaners in the Canadian and U.S. markets.
HAZ LOC (Hazardous Location) Certification
This is the U.S. certification corresponding to the European ATEX and refers to the explosion-related hazards of certain atmospheres. The two standards differ in some features, but the substance is the same.
COUNTRIES IN TROPICAL AREAS (Central and South America, Africa, Southeast Asia)
Tropicalized motors
Although this is not a certification, RIBO offers the possibility of protecting the motors of its vacuum cleaners from humidity and sultry temperatures, which are characteristic of tropical countries. For this, we use a special coating with high hygroscopic properties, which avoids impairing the insulation seal and protects the electrical and mechanical parts of the vacuum cleaner from condensation penetration.
This special treatment is particularly recommended when the vacuum cleaner is used in regions of the world characterized by a wide temperature range and extreme temperatures and humidity levels.
